Who I am and what am I doing...

Ok, so here's the dealio...
My name is Jillian and up until New Years 2011 I was a nail biter. I know...disgusting, right?  I decided that for my new years resolution I would stop biting my nails...and I mean STOP...because even I was getting disgusted with myself.  Anywho, my dream was to have nice, beautiful, strong nails and the only way to achieve this dream was to have them polished all the time.  The good news is that within the last 6 months I have pretty much kicked my bad habit. YAY!  The bad news is that I have also picked up a new habit...nail polish addiction.

I'd say that for the first three months of my "no nail biting resolution" I was pretty good about just lacquering up my nails and keeping them away from my teeth, but then as I was shopping for some new polishes at my local Walmart I realized that I was getting sooo sick of seeing tons of pink (don't get me wrong...I still love pink polish), so I decided to do some online research and basically found a HUGE nail polish community out there!  Who woulda thunk it? Let me just say that from that moment on I have been on a serious nail polish spending spree, and have accumulated over a hundred polishes since then.  I know, that's a lot of polish in a short period of time, but what can I say? I LOVE IT!

So with that said, this blog will be devoted to nail polish and all things that make doing nails fun! I plan on doing manicures with all of the polish that I have accumulated within the last couple of months as a way to help myself keep an inventory and for your viewing pleasure.  I also intend on including a lot of manicures using bundle monster (nail stamping) images and nail art.  I am by NO MEANS and expert in nail polish application and would very much enjoy any feedback that you can give me, and I will of course be more than happy in answering any questions that you may have (to the best of my ability).

Alright...so I guess I'm really doing this! :D Thanks for taking the time out of your day to read this silly intro entry!

<3 Jillian

  1. Awesome! i'm so glad we have understanding men in our lives. I always feel ashamed when i want to do nails or buy polish, so i'll like whisper to aaron, "i want to do my nails." and he thinks i'm being silly and don't need to be ashamed of it. which is awesome! i've actually put myself on a nail polish no-buy. it's been about 22 days since i last bought nail polish. i'm hoping to make it at least 30 days straight. and then we'll see how long i last after that :P my ultimate goal would be to wait until my birthday to buy again, but i don't know if i can do it. that's in 2 months.

anyway, best of luck to you. have fun! keep polishing!! :D

  2. OMG...Vance is the same way! He thinks it's cute when I do my nails and I get all girly girl. haha...

Props to you and the nail polish no-buy! I don't think I could go that long with out buying...I'd be soooo sad! When you do decide to buy again you better reward yourself with a long awaited polish! :D

Oh and btw...I know you really like the Zoya Charla color (except for the staining part), but Orly's Halleys Comet is supposed to be a dupe. I think it's available on ebay. Wedding nail color possibly? :)

  3. Hey Jill, I'm doing pretty well on my nail polish no-buy. Mainly because i've been too busy in general, but also cuz i knew i'd have to start saving more in order to house/feed the two newest brothers :P I'm curious to see how long i can last. haha. i'll let you know as soon as i buy again. i'm on the look out for Essie Turquoise and Caicos. I saw it once at Walmart, but now when i want to get it, of course it's gone.

i was telling aaron that i actually did better than just no buying, i've actually returned nail polish (the Color Club sets from Ross), so i technically have $8 to spend as credit. haha. but no, i'm gonna see if i can just stop for a little while. it lets me try stuff i haven't gotten to try yet. today i have on Borghese Stellare Notte

i have 2 bottles of Zoya Charla. I'm curious if Orly Halley's Comet will stain too. I know OPI has a polish that's also a dupe called Catch Me In Your Net. But i don't think i'll buy any yet.

  4. Try Target for the Turquoise and Caicos...they have an awesome inventory of essie nail polish. I was just at the Kona target on Monday and they had the new summer line as well. Walmart sucks! haha Actually Target has an awesome make-up and nail polish inventory in general! :)

I just got a Borghese polish from Ross the other day...Borghese has such a weird brush...I think I might review it on this blog.

I heard about Catch Me in Your Net too, but on amazon it's selling for like $30!!?! Crazy! You should definitely check out Halleys Comet once your done with your no-buy.

I know Reyn can't really chip in for food...but isn't Austin helping out at all? You have a lot of patience Courtney. ;)

  5. ooh, ya, i forgot about Target. i don't go there very often. last time i went it was before i was into nail polish, so i didn't really look around for what kind they carry. i'll be sure to check it out when i'm ready to buy again :D thanks.

ya, Borghese does have a strange brush. formula of the polish was pretty nice though. evened out well. what color did you get?

eeh, $30?!? ya, i'm not ready to spend that much on a polish yet. i'm so tempted by Chanel's Peridot, but i will be kicking myself if i buy it ($25) then later on, a dupe comes out for cheaper. it sucks that it's a limited edition, so i can't really get it later if i change my mind. damn you, limited editions!!

i'll email you separately for an update on the other stuff :P
